Louis XV Center Table with Marble Top – France 18th Century
Impressive Louis XV centre table of generous proprtions. The elaborately carved walnut base is 18th century. The top was replaced around the 1900s with a serpentine top of Vert des Alpes marble (green with white veins – the quarry, situated in the Alps, closed in the early 1950s). The apron is decorated with a large carved shell design on each side. The table is raised on scrolled legs. An X-shape stretcher is topped with a large central finial.
