French Wrought-Iron Shelves, Dated “1889”
Unusual and elegant wrought iron shelves or plant-stand, dated from 1889, the year of the Exposition Universelle (World Fair) in Paris. The piece is decorated with stylised fleur-de-lys and Greek key motifs. Flame-top finials adorn each upright. Traces of the original dark red and burnished gold paint. The shelves have been fitted with glass.
